Summary
This interactive claims handling training workshop is aimed at those who are already proficient in claims handling, but want to enhance their knowledge. It provides insight into some of the more complex issues they may encounter in their work.
Our claims handling training workshop would fit well within a programme of technical development for those experienced in their role or in a supervisory capacity. It would not suit anyone new to the subject.

- Own Damage Claims: the effect of a breach of policy conditions and ICOBS requirements
- Liability Issues, including – The current case law on fundamental issues including theft, negligence and contributory negligence
- The effect on claims handling following the latest changes to the MOJ reforms.
- The latest developments in relation to:
- Litigation
- Personal injury claims
- Accident scenarios
- Credit hire claims
- Fraud
- FOS views
- Methods of claims resolution
- Hints and tips on claims handling, especially for contentious policyholder and third party claims.
Learning Objectives
- Explain the methods of calculation to demonstrate how losses are precisely measured.
- Explain the variations in the principles of insurance and the effect on claims.
- Appreciate the application of the tort of negligence to claims, especially in the light of recent legal developments
- Understand recent developments in the market and the latest statutory changes
- Outline the more unusual policy extensions and the types of claim that may therefore arise.
